John 1:19-28
Dec 14, 2025 • Daniel Hancock
John 1:19–28 shows John the Baptist denying that he is the Messiah, Elijah, or the Prophet. He identifies himself instead as “the voice” preparing the way for the Lord, in fulfillment of Isaiah 40:3. John explains that his baptism points to someone far greater already among them—one so great that John is unworthy to untie his sandals—preparing readers for the coming revelation of Jesus.
