1 Corinthians 7:25-40

Paul offers guidance on singleness, marriage, and devotion to the Lord. While acknowledging he has no direct command from the Lord on these matters, he gives wise counsel based on God’s mercy. He encourages believers, especially in light of the present distress, to remain in their current situation if possible. Singleness, he says, allows for undivided devotion to the Lord, while marriage brings worldly concerns. Yet both states are gifts from God, and each person should follow their own calling with faithfulness and wisdom.
