Hebrews 11:8-22

What does it look like to take a step of faith when you cannot see the full path ahead? Hebrews 11 pulls us into the lives of Abraham and Sarah, two deeply flawed, entirely human people who somehow trusted God through uncertainty, laughter, failure, and testing. The central truth running through their story is not that they were extraordinary people who did extraordinary things. It is that an extraordinary God remained faithful to His promises even when they stumbled, doubted, and fell flat on their faces. Abraham left everything familiar without knowing his destination, and Sarah laughed out loud the first time God told her she would conceive. Yet twenty-five years later, she held that baby. The Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11 shows us the highlight reel, but Genesis shows us the behind-the-scenes reality, and together they paint a picture that looks a lot like our own lives. We are sinners saved by grace, taking one step at a time in the light of God's word, not a floodlight revealing the whole road, but just enough light for the next step. That is the invitation here: to stop waiting for the full plan before we obey, and to trust that the same God who kept His promises to Abraham and Sarah is keeping His promises to us.
