Nehemiah 2:1-8
Jan 11, 2026 • Daniel Hancock
Nehemiah appears before King Artaxerxes and, for the first time, reveals the deep sorrow of his heart over the ruined state of Jerusalem. Though fearful, Nehemiah prays silently and then respectfully presents his request: permission to return and rebuild the city, along with official letters for safe passage and materials. The king responds favorably—not by chance, but because the good hand of God is upon Nehemiah. What began as grief becomes a God-guided opportunity, showing that prayerful dependence leads to bold, wise action.
