He is so Good to Us

He is so Good to Us

by Trent Brown

Reflecting on Isaiah 12 helps us, as God’s people, to rejoice in His salvation, preservation, and restoration. This beautiful snippet of Scripture is one of praise that centers on the goodness of God. We see that He is our salvation, our comforter, our strength, and our song. We also see that He dwells among us and does glorious deeds.

I am so thankful that the Lord is good to me. I am reminded daily of His goodness as He sees fit to comfort me in all of the chaos and confusion that often surrounds me. The words of an old Third Day song are on my lips this morning. The song simply says,

You are so good to me
You heal my broken heart
You are my Father in Heaven

You poured out all Your blood
You died upon the cross
You are my Jesus who loves me

You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
And I will sing again

You are my strong melody
You are my dancing rhythm
You are my perfect rhyme
And I will sing of You forever

The fact that He dwells with us helps us to hold onto the beauty and goodness of who HE is. It speaks of His manifestation of Himself to His people by taking on flesh. Not only did He become man, He also rectified the obstacle of fellowship between a Holy God and mankind. He became the propitiation or payment for God’s wrath and brought about favor instead.

It is also a beautiful picture of His grace. It speaks specifically of the fact that He is angry at sin, yet turns His anger away in order to comfort us in our afflictions. His actions are evidence of His character and knowing how and why He works informs how we worship. It helps us give thanks for all He has done for us individually as well as proclaiming His salvation among the nations

He is so good to us! May we live our lives full of joy because of what He has done for us. May our lives be full of these expressions of joy as we sing, shout, and declare His goodness to those that we come in contact with.

He Remains Faithful

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. I have heard this verse a hundred different times as many of us have and in each time I read the verse or heard the verse preached, it was mentioned as a positive, an encouragement, to uplift. But this verse use to burden me and make me question... “Have I truly kept the faith?”Oh God, I have been faith...
The Writing is on the Wall: Understanding Challenging Stories in the Scriptures
October 21st, 2025
When I was in elementary school, I remember visiting a small church in my hometown. I don’t recall what brought me there- whether a friend or an event- but I do remember what I saw there. Sitting in a classroom with other kids my age, eyes glued to a Bible story on the television, my jaw dropped. A disembodied hand crashed a party and started writing on the wall in what I was absolutely certain wa...

Once-for-All Forgiveness: The Power and Promise of Redemption
September 29th, 2025
Paul begins the letter of Ephesians by blessing God for all of the blessings that He has blessed us with (1:3-14). One of those blessings is redemption. Redemption, as a secular term means “to secure the release or recovery of persons or things by paying a price.” However, in Christianity, redemption refers to the act of being saved through the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. J...
