Hebrews 3:7-19

In Hebrews 3:7–19, the author warns believers not to harden their hearts against God like the Israelites did in the wilderness after the Exodus. Quoting Psalm 95, the passage reminds readers that Israel saw God’s works for forty years, yet they still rebelled, doubted, and disobeyed Him. Because of their unbelief, that generation was prevented from entering God’s “rest” — the Promised Land.
The writer applies this warning to Christians by urging them to listen to God “today,” remain faithful, and encourage one another so they are not deceived by sin. The central lesson is that unbelief leads to disobedience and separation from God’s rest, while persevering faith demonstrates a true share in Christ.
