Read the Bible With Us

Bibles

Our mission at C3 Rowlett is to grow in the knowledge of God and bear fruit. The primary way this happens is when the Holy Spirit transforms us through the written Word of God-the Bible. The bible is hands down the best resource we could offer our church members. Whether you're a kid, an adult, eight, or eighty-eight, from womb to tomb, we all need the bible. That's why on July 31 we are providing every kid in C3 Kids and Youth either a storybook bible or regular bible to help them grow.

For our babies through kids going into first grade, each family will receive The Biggest Story: How the Snake Crusher Brings Us Back to the Garden. "In The Biggest Story, Kevin DeYoung—a best-selling author and father of nine—leads kids and parents alike on an exciting journey through the Bible, connecting the dots from the garden of Eden to Christ's death on the cross to the new heaven and new earth" (crossway.com). We encourage you to read through these stories with your children.

Kids beginning second through fifth grade will receive their very own bible. We especially love the ESV, but it can be hard to understand sometimes, especially for a kid. So after much research, we've decided to go with the NIrV. "The NIrV uses the text of the NIV but adapts it for reading at a third-grade level. In cases where phrases or words might be difficult to understand, words easier to understand have been used. And sentences are shorter, which is helpful for early readers and others who struggle with the English language. Throughout the translation, each verse has been meticulously evaluated in light of the meaning of the original languages in which the Bible was written" (thenivbible.com). With future plans to help kids learn to read the bible for themselves, we want to start helping our kids grow in bible literacy at a young age.

Kids going into C3 Youth will get their own bible as well. While the ESV might still be a bit too challenging for a student, and the NIrV might not be challenging enough, the CSB fits well for this stage of life and beyond. "Developed by 100 scholars from 17 denominations, the Christian Standard Bible faithfully and accurately captures the Bible’s original meaning without compromising readability. The ultimate purpose of the Christian Standard Bible is to draw readers into a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God. By translating ancient Scripture texts into the clearest possible modern English, the CSB allows readers to experience the Bible at its fullest" (lifeway.com).

When students graduate, they will then receive an ESV Gospel Transformation Study Bible. “The ESV Gospel Transformation Study Bible is designed to help readers see Christ in all of Scripture, and grace for all of life. It features book introductions, gospel-centered study notes, and a series of all-new articles—written by a team of over 50 pastors and scholars. This content explains passage-by-passage how God’s redemptive purposes culminate in the gospel and apply to the lives of believers today. Readers will be challenged to see how the message of the gospel transforms sinners from the inside out" (crossway.com)

But that's not all! With each new baby dedicated, we will also be providing families with a copy of The Biggest Story ABC and The Biggest Story Bible Storybook. This will carry them through first grade until they get their very own bible.

Have you already given your child a bible? That's great! Do what you think is best for them. Our desire is simply that everyone has a bible that they can read on their own or a story of the bible that babies can chew on (literally), and that families can read together.

It's an investment for sure, but it's worth it. And it's because of your generosity to C3 that we are able to do this and work together to help our kids grow in the knowledge of God and bear fruit. So let's get to work helping sow the seed of the word of God and watering it in our kids' lives, and let's pray and watch expectantly for God to give the growth.

GITKOG&BF,
John
