He is so Good to Us
by Trent Brown

Reflecting on Isaiah 12 helps us, as God’s people, to rejoice in His salvation, preservation, and restoration. This beautiful snippet of Scripture is one of praise that centers on the goodness of God. We see that He is our salvation, our comforter, our strength, and our song. We also see that He dwells among us and does glorious deeds.
I am so thankful that the Lord is good to me. I am reminded daily of His goodness as He sees fit to comfort me in all of the chaos and confusion that often surrounds me. The words of an old Third Day song are on my lips this morning. The song simply says,
You are so good to me
You heal my broken heart
You are my Father in Heaven
You poured out all Your blood
You died upon the cross
You are my Jesus who loves me
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
You are beautiful my sweet, sweet song
And I will sing again
You are my strong melody
You are my dancing rhythm
You are my perfect rhyme
And I will sing of You forever
The fact that He dwells with us helps us to hold onto the beauty and goodness of who HE is. It speaks of His manifestation of Himself to His people by taking on flesh. Not only did He become man, He also rectified the obstacle of fellowship between a Holy God and mankind. He became the propitiation or payment for God’s wrath and brought about favor instead.
It is also a beautiful picture of His grace. It speaks specifically of the fact that He is angry at sin, yet turns His anger away in order to comfort us in our afflictions. His actions are evidence of His character and knowing how and why He works informs how we worship. It helps us give thanks for all He has done for us individually as well as proclaiming His salvation among the nations
He is so good to us! May we live our lives full of joy because of what He has done for us. May our lives be full of these expressions of joy as we sing, shout, and declare His goodness to those that we come in contact with.

Avoid False Teachers and False Gods
June 8th, 2026
As I drive through various parts of our city, I can’t help but notice many places of worship. You don’t have to drive too far to find temples, churches, and other religious buildings. Perhaps you’ve noticed the same thing. While some of these buildings house strong Christian fellowships, sadly, many others are places where false doctrine is taught or even where false gods are worshipped. As believe...
Finding Peace in a Redeeming God
May 25th, 2026
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Trust in the LORD forever, for the LORD GOD is an everlasting rock.” (ESV)I love the promises found in Isaiah 26:3–4. They are truly comforting and words to hold fast to. In a world marked by anxiety, suffering, and exhaustion, we are invited into what scriptures calls perfect peace. This peace is more than tempo...
After the Apocalypse
May 18th, 2026
Since I was young, I’ve had a fascination with zombies. Hordes of shambling undead filled the toy aisles and phone screens of my childhood. Plants vs. Zombies, The Walking Dead, and even Minecraft were global phenomena heavily featuring these green-skinned ghouls. Zombie fiction exploded in the 2010s, just as I was at that impressionable young age when all things horrible and gross became wonderfu...
A Sturdy Witness Chair: The Apologetics Handbook of 1 Peter

On April 17, 1521, when the “fabled monk”[1] was asked to give a defense for the convictions within him, Martin Luther respectfully and famously said:Since then your serene majesties and your lordships seek a simple answer, I will give it in this manner, plain and unvarnished. . . . I am bound to the Scriptures I have quoted and my conscience is captive to the Word of God. I cannot and will not re...
Suffering.
May 4th, 2026
Suffering. Few things in this life will strip you to your core like suffering does. The book of Job is a story about perhaps one of the most seemingly cursed men in the Scriptures. Job lost his wealth and his family in a single day. He was struck with “loathsome sores” that covered his entire body. His wife abandoned him, telling him to “Curse God and die,” forcing him to face these challenges alo...
